“I dream a lot. I do more painting when I’m not painting. It’s in the subconscious.” – Andrew Wyeth
Whenever I am consumed by something in life, it inevitably ends up in my dreams but ever since starting my new Aspen / Birch tree series of paintings my dreams have all centered around paint. It’s like my dream world has transformed into a technicolor world of textured paint, it’s pretty spectacular. This is how I know that I am onto something great, I can’t stop thinking about it even while I sleep!
Here are some close up images that showcase all of the incredible texture in “Tonight I Dream in Color”. I used a series of palette knives to sculpt on the paint in several thick layers adding more and more depth and texture. This series of paintings is beautiful to look at but also exciting to touch!
Big globs of glossy wet paint.
The kind of stuff dreams are made of.
